Tomasz Daroch
Tomasz Darochparfait son éducation musicale jusqu’au diplôme à l’Académie de musique de Łódź chez Tomasz Firlej et obtient un brillant diplôme à la suite de ses études post-grade à la Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst de Mannheim. Il fréquente ensuite des cours de maîtres auprès de Bernard Greenhouse, Miklos Perenyi, Frans Helmerson, Heinrich Schiff et David Geringas. Il est lauréat des concours internationaux de violoncelle de Varsovie, Budapest, Markneukirchen. À 14 ans il donne son premier concert avec orchestre, suivi de collaborations avec des orchestres polonais, mais aussi slovènes, allemands et russe. Avec ses sœurs Anna au violon et Maria au piano, ils forment le Trio Daroch qui enregistre un CD (chez DUX) dans des œuvres de Debussy, Ravel et Dvořak. Comme soliste Tomasz Daroch enregistre le Concerto pour violoncelle de Lutoslawski, chez Accord. Depuis 2013 il est assistant à l’Académie de Musique de Łódź, sa ville natale.
Tomasz Darochabsolvierte seine musikalische Ausbildung an der Musikakademie in Łódź bei Tomasz Firlej und anschliessend ein Nachdiplom an der Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Mannheim, welches er mit Auszeichnung abschloss. Er besuchte Meisterkurse bei Bernard Greenhouse, Miklos Perenyi, Frans Helmerson, Heinrich Schiff und David Geringas und gewann die internationalen Cellowettbewerbe in Warschau, Budapest und Markneukirchen. Mit 14 Jahren gab er sein erstes Konzert mit einem Orchester, gefolgt von der Zusammenarbeit mit polnischen, slowenischen, deutschen und russischen Orchestern. Mit seinen Schwestern Anna an der Violine und Maria am Klavier bilden sie das „Daroch-Trio“, welches bei DUX eine CD mit Werken von Debussy, Ravel und Dvořak aufnahm. Als Solist nahm Tomasz Daroch bei Accord das Cellokonzert von Lutosławski auf. Seit 2013 ist er Assistent an der Musikhochschule seiner Heimatstadt, Łódź.
Tomasz Daroch born into an artistic family on June 15th, 1989 in Lodz in Poland, began to play cello in the age of 7. In the last years he graduated, receiving a diploma with distinction from the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Mannheim in Germany and from the Bacewicz’s Academy of Music in Lodz in Poland. He was a student of professors Michael Flaksman, Julius Berger, Jelena Ocic and Stanislaw Firlej. Currently he works as an assistant at the Academy of Music in Lodz, where he recently received a doctoral degree.
He has annually taken part in cello master classes under the supervision of professors: Bernard Greenhouse, David Geringas, Frans Helmerson, Miklos Perenyi, Gary Hoffman and Heinrich Schiff.
Tomasz Daroch has won many awards and received numerous acknowledgments at international competitions, among them: Grand Prix and the 1st Prize at the 8th International Witold Lutoslawski Cello Competition in Warsaw (2011), the 2nd Prize at the Pablo Casals International Cello Competition in Budapest (2014), the First Prize at 18th Bacewicz International Chamber Music Competition in Lodz (2013), the 3rd Prize and Public Award at the International Antonio Janigro Cello Competition (2012), the 1st Prize at the Michal Spisak International Cello Competition in Dabrowa Gornicza (2010), the 1st Prize at the 44th International Cello Competition in Markneukirchen (2009), special prizes at the „Grand Prix Emanuel Feuerman” in Berlin (2006).
He has been awarded scholarships from the Polish Ministry of Culture, the Department of City Lodz in Poland and the Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg, Lions Club and Menuhin Live Music in Germany.
In 2003 Tomasz made his debut with the Arthur Rubinstein Philharmonic Orchestra in Lodz. Since then he has performed as a soloist with such orchestras as the Warsaw Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the ’’Amadeus’’ Chamber Orchestra, Sinfonia Varsovia, NFM Philharmonic Orchestra, Sinfonietta Cracovia and Heidelberger Philharmoniker, Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, St. Petersburg State Capella Symphony Orchestra, Morphing Chamber Orchestra, Magyar Radio Symphony Orchestra, Kodaly Philharmonic Debrecen, Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, Zagreb Soloists, Varazdin Chamber Orchestra. He has collaborated with such conductors as Cornelius Meister, Vladimir Spivakov, Jonathan Darlington, Janos Kovacs, Jacek Kaspszyk, Marek Pijarowski, Jerzy Maksymiuk, Agnieszka Duczmal, Marek Pijarkowski, Jerzy Salwarowski, Tadeusz Strugała, Krzysztof Urbański and many others.
Tomasz Daroch has performed at many international festivals, such as: “Festspiele Salzburg” in Austria, “Ascoli Piceno Festival”, “Lago Maggiore Musica”, “Alfredo Piatti Festival” in Italy, “Heidelberger Frühling”, „Oldenburger Promenade” , „Eckelshausner Musiktage” in Germany, „Musical Olympus” and “Rising Stars at Kremlin” in Russia, “Wratislavia Cantans”, “Chain VIII Festival”, “Musical Gardens”, “La Folle Journee de Varsovie”, “Emanacje” in Poland.
The artist performs also as a chamber musician in a family piano trio, the ’’Daroch Trio’’ with his sisters: Anna (violin) and Maria (piano). Since 2012 together with his friends he creates also a cello quartet named “Polish Cello Quartet”.
In 2014 Tomasz Daroch has recorded Witold Lutoslawski’s Cello Concerto together with NFM Wroclaw Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Jacek Kaspszyk. In the same year he recorded also a debut album of “Daroch Trio” with piano trios of C. Debussy, M. Ravel and A. Dvorak.
