SVETLIN ROUSSEV, violon
Artiste charismatique d'une virtuosité et d'une intensité remarquable, Svetlin Roussev aborde le grand répertoire du violon de la période baroque à la musique contemporaine. Ardent interprète de la musique slave et propagateur, en particulier, de la musique de son pays d'origine, la Bulgarie, Svetlin Roussev est Musicien de l'Année 2006 en Bulgarie et a reçu en 2007 puis de nouveau en 2016 et en 2019 la « Lyre de Cristal », distinction décernée par le Ministère de la Culture bulgare. Il est également depuis mai 2018 « citoyen d’honneur » de sa ville natale Roussé. En 2019, Svetlin Roussev a été longuement reçu par le président de la république bulgare Rumen Radev, qui lui a remis son Signe d’Honneur.
Svetlin Roussev s'est produit à la Salle Pleyel, au Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, à la Cité de la Musique et à l’UNESCO à Paris, au Palais des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles, à l'Alte Oper de Francfort, au Konzerthaus de Berlin, au Palais de la Culture de Budapest, au Sumida Triphony Center Hall et Suntory Hall de Tokyo, au Seoul Arts Center, au Bolchoï et à la salle Tchaikovsky de Moscou, ou encore au Palais des Nations Unies.
Invité par différents orchestres aux Etats-Unis, en Amérique Latine, en Asie et en Europe, il a joué sous la direction de Myung-Whun Chung, Léon Fleisher, Yehudi Menuhin, Yuzo Toyama, Marek Janowski, Emmanuel Krivine, Arie van Beek, François-Xavier Roth, Jean-Jacques Kantorow, Denis Russel-Davies, Lionel Bringuier, Jonathan Nott, Rossen Milanov, Emil Tabakov...
Svetlin Roussev est lauréat de nombreux concours internationaux (Indianapolis, Long-Thibaud, Melbourne…). Il a obtenu en 2001 le 1er Grand Prix, ainsi que deux Prix Spéciaux au 1er Concours International de Musique de Sendaï.
Il se produit régulièrement en soliste sans chef dans de nombreux pays.
Le partage musical, c'est aussi la musique de chambre, où Svetlin Roussev côtoie des partenaires tels que Myung-Whun Chung, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Yeol Eum Son, Peter Frankl, Nikolaj Znaider, Ning Feng, Antoine Tamestit, Gautier Capuçon, Xavier Philips, Jian Wang, Gary Hoffman, Paul Meyer, François Leleux et aussi François Salque et Elena Rozanova avec qui il forme le trio Roussev-Salque-Rozanova.
Sa discographie inclut des œuvres de Vladiguerov, Sibelius, Grieg, Medtner, Ravel, Franck, Ysaÿe, Mendelssohn, Dvorak, Hartmann pour les labels Arcantus, Fondamenta, DECCA...
Il est professeur de violon à la Haute école de musique de Genève après avoir enseigné la même discipline au Conservatoire national supérieur de musique de Paris.
Svetlin Roussev joue le Stradivarius Camposelice de 1710 prêté par la Nippon Music Foundation.

Roussev is a regular guest soloist with various orchestras in the USA, Latin America, Asia and Europe. He has performed under the baton of conductors such as Myung-Whun Chung, Léon Fleisher, Yehudi Menuhin, Yuzo Toyama, Marek Janowski, Emmanuel Krivine, François-Xavier Roth, Jean-Jacques Kantorow...
He has been leading and conducting various ensembles and orchestras in Bulgaria, France, Poland, Korea, Japan and Sweden.
With remarkable virtuosity and intensity, Svetlin performs a broad repertoire ranging from the baroque to the contemporary. He is renowned for his renditions of Slavic compositions and keenly promotes Bulgarian music. Acclaimed Bulgarian Musician of the Year in 2006, his home country honoured him again in 2007, 2016 and 2019 with the Cristal Lyra distinction awarded by the Ministry of Culture. In 2018, Mr Roussev became an Honorary Citizen of his hometown Ruse, along with the Nobel Prize of literature Elias Canetti.

Roussev is a violin professor at the prestigious Haute école de musique in Geneva after 10 years being a professor at the CNSMDP in Paris. He has been giving violin and chamber music masterclasses around the world. He is also the artistic advisor and artist in residence of the March Music Days International Festival in his hometown Ruse after serving as artistic director and artist in residence of the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra.
Svetlin Roussev has won numerous prizes at many international competitions, including Indianapolis, Long-Thibaud and Melbourne. He began his musical education in his home town of Ruse, Bulgaria, with his mother. At the age of 15, he was accepted into the CNSMD where he studied with Gérard Poulet, Devy Erlih and Jean-Jacques Kantorow. Three years later, the jury unanimously awarded him the first prize for violin and chamber music. Subsequently he entered the postgraduate program.
Svetlin Roussev performs on the Stradivarius 1710 Camposelice, a violin kindly loaned by the Nippon Music Foundation.
