Né à Anvers en 1950, le chef d'orchestre Ronald Zollman a commencé sa carrière à l'âge de 23 ans et s'est fait un nom international non seulement comme chef du répertoire symphonique traditionnel, mais aussi comme chef d'orchestre d'opéra et interprète de la musique contemporaine, dont la Neue Zürcher Zeitung a écrit qu'il était "absolument essentiel de la transmettre" et qu'"il suffit de savoir où la trouver".
Ronald Zollman a commencé son éducation musicale à l'âge de quatre ans. Après des études au Conservatoire Royal d'Anvers, il devient l'élève d'Igor Markevitch et de Nadia Boulanger à Paris en 1967.Depuis la fin des années quatre-vingts il a été le directeur musical de grands orchestres symphoniques notamment en Belgique, au Mexique en Israël et actuellement il dirige l'Orchestre philharmonique Carnegie Mellon de Pittsburg. Il a dirigé la plupart d’importants orchestres en Europe dont tous les orchestres suisses et également ceux de San Diego, de Sydney, de Melbourne, de Shanghaï, d’Israël.

Der 1950 in Antwerpen geborene Dirigent Ronald Zollman startete seine Karriere mit 23 Jahren und machte sich nicht nur als Dirigent des traditionellen symphonischen Repertoires sondern auch als Operndirigent und Interpret zeitgenössischer Musik international einen geschätzten Namen, von dem die Neue Zürcher Zeitung schrieb, dass man ihn „unbedingt weitersagen muss“ und von dem „man nur wissen muss, wo“ man ihn findet.
Zollman begann seine musikalische Ausbildung im Alter von vier Jahren. Nach Studien am Königlichen Konservatorium von Antwerpen wurde er 1967 in Paris Schüler von Igor Markevitch und Nadia Boulanger. Von 1989 – 1993 war Ronald Zollman Musikdirektor des Orchestre National von Belgien; 1993 – 2002 war er Musikdirektor des Philharmonic Orchestra of UNAM in Mexico City; 2002 - 2004 Musikdirektor und Chefdirigent der Northern Israel Symphony, Haifa. Zur Zeit ist er Chefdirigent des Carnegie Mellon Philharmonic Orchestra in Pittsburg, USA. Für Rundfunk und Fernsehen wirkte er u.a. bei zahlreichen BBC-Sendern, Rundfunkstationen in Berlin, Frankfurt, Australien, Belgien, Dänemark, Spanien, Frankreich, Luxemburg, Mexico, Niederlande, Slowenien, Schweden und Schweiz. Schallplatten spielte er u.a. ein mit: Weltorchester der Jeunesses Musicales (Live-Mitschnitt des Berliner Konzerts mit Mahler’s 1. Symphonie), Nationalorchester von Catalunya, Basler Sinfonie Orchester, Northern Sinfonia, Swedish Chamber Orchestra, Philharmonisches Orchester der UNAM Mexico City, Zürcher Kammerorchester. Er war Gast von Festivals wie Edinburgh Festival, Flandern Festival, Warschauer Herbst, Festival Estival Paris, Gulbenkian Lissabon, London Proms, Canadian Festival (Don Giovanni), Colorado Music Festival, Almeida Festival London, Carinthischer Sommer u.a.


Nyní hlavní hostující dirigent Plzeňské filharmonie, Ronald Zollman, se věnuje nejen velkým symfonickým díkům tradičního repertoáru: je velmi aktivní na poli opery a je především znám pro svůj zájem o současnou hudbu. V divadle dirigoval mnoho představení v bruselském operním domě Monnaie (například Don Giovanni, Cosi fan Tutte, La Bohéme, Albert Herring a Život prostopášníka) a představení La Traviata, která vedl v londýnské ENO (Anglická národní opera), byla brzy následována představeními Utahování šroubu se Skotskou operou. Pro BBC nahrál Henzeho Prince homburského, zrovna když jeho Don Giovanni pro letní festival v Banff byl prohlášen za zlatý hřeb této významné hudební události v Kanadě. V USA je známý svými představeními francouzských romantických oper v Indiana Opera, jako například Manon, Cendrillon nebo Romeo a Julie. Co se soudobé hudby týče, Ronald ZOLLMAN pravidelně pracuje s londýnskou Sinfoniettou a na žádost Pierra Bouleze je častým hostem Ensemble InterContemporain v Paříži a na zájezdech.Český národní symfonický orchetr aj.


From New York’s Carnegie Hall to Sydney’s Opera House, via Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, Salle Pleyel in Paris, Festival Hall in London, Suntory Hall in Tokyo and Berlin’s Philharmonic Hall, Ronald Zollman’sname has become through the years a familiar one for many international music lovers.  Director Designate pf the Pilsen Philharmonic Orchestra (Czech Republic) after having been their Principal Guest Conductor during the last 4 years, a position he has previously held in Prague with the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra,Ronald Zollmanwas born in Antwerp (Belgium). There he began his musical training at the age of four, becoming later  the pupil of Igor Markevitch and Nadia Boulanger in France, and also of Hans Swarowsky  and Franco Ferrara in Austria and Italy.
From its start, his career has expanded rapidly. He appeared as a guest conductor with important orchestras on all continents : BBC Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Residentie Orchestra, Orchester des Hessischen Rundfunks, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, San Diego Symphony, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai and Guangzhou Symphony Orchestras, Bamberger Symphoniker, Swedish Radio Orchestra, Tokyo Philharmonic, Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and many more. He also was the guest of such major festivals as Edinburgh, Flanders, Warsaw Autumn, Festival Estival in Paris, Gulbenkian in Lisbon, London  Proms,…
Ronald Zollmannot only dedicates himself to the great symphonic works of the traditional repertoire, being very active in the field of opera as well as particularly noted for his commitment to contemporary music. In the theatre, he conducted a large number of performances at the Brussels La Monnaie Opera House  (a.o. Don Giovanni, Cosi fan Tutte, La Bohème, Albert Herring and A Rake’s Progress), and the performances of La Traviata whichhe led at London’s English National Opera were soon followed by a series The Turn of the Screw with Scottish Opera. For the BBC he recorded Henze’s Der Prinz von Homburg, while his Don Giovanni for the Banff Summer Festival was considered as the highlight of this major event in Canada. In the USA, he is known for his performances of French romantic operas at Indiana Opera, such as Manon, Cendrillon or Roméo et Juliette. As far as contemporary music is concerned,Ronald Zollmanhas worked regularly with the London Sinfonietta, and at Pierre Boulez’s  request, he has been a frequent guest with the Ensemble InterContemporain, in Paris and on tour. 
From 1989 till 1993,Ronald Zollmanwas Musical Director of the National Orchestra of Belgium, a position he then held since 1993 with the Philharmonic Orchestra of UNAM in Mexico City. In September 2002 he took the Music Directorship and Principal Conductorship of the Northern Israel Symphony, Haifa, and from 2009 until 2013, he was Director of Orchestral Studies at the Carnegie Mellon School of Music in Pittsburgh as well as the Music Director of their Philharmonic Orchestra. 
Ronald Zollman’s discography includes productions with many orchestras : following  Mahler’s First Symphony with the Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra, recorded live in Berlin, there were recordings with the National Orchestra of Catalunya, the Basler Sinfonie Orchester, the Zürcher Kammerorchester, the Northern Sinfonia, the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, with his own orchestra in Mexico City and with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. Also active in the world of film music, Ronald Zollmanrecorded the soundtrack for “Le Maître de Musique” (“The Master of Music”), the award-winning motion picture featuring José Van Dam, a nominee for the Best Foreign Picture at the Academy Awards in Hollywood. The musical quality of this particular soundtrack was recognized with the award of a Golden Record. 
Ronald Zollmanmade his debut with the Orchestre de Paris at the occasion of their tribute concert to the memory of Mstislav Rostropovitch in Salle Pleyel (Paris) in 2007, conducting Henri Dutilleux’s Cello concerto in a performance considered by the composer himself as one of the best he had heard. In the summer of 2008 he shared the musical direction of the Orchestra Academica of the Campos do Jordao Festival (Brazil) with Kurt Masur.  In April 2010 he had his debut at Carnegie Hall in New York, and in April 2011 he conducted for the 1st time at Washington’s Kennedy Centre. Beside his activities in the Czech Republic, plans for the future include concerts a.o. in Belgium, Germany, France, Mexico, China and Cuba.
